Secret behind Spotify's Hook: How they keep Users Addicted

With 80 million songs, 2 million podcasts, 456 million active listeners, and 11 million artists and creators Spotify is the #1 music streaming platform in the world. Bad Bunny, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Eminem, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5,  and many artists earn unbelievable wealth on Spotify. Despite not being the first in its business model, Spotify has managed to outshine its competitors such as Apple, YouTube Music, and Google Play Music. So how did Spotify achieve such massive success?

1. They made a great reason to choose Spotify for its customers over others.

Spotify wasn't the first music streaming platform at that time. Spotify's founder, Daniel Ek recognized two major problems in the music streaming market. The first was the lack of payment for musicians and songwriters, and the second was the absence of a platform that provided access to any song at any time. This was a crucial problem among music lovers at that time. To solve these problems, Daniel created Spotify, an organized platform that provided access to a large library of music, along with the ability to create playlists and access albums. Actually, Spotify created a reason to accept Spotify to its customers - This unique selling proposition quickly made Spotify a hit among music lovers and artists.

2. They were never afraid to take the right approach and validate their idea.

According to Daniel, his initial idea was to launch Spotify as a completely free platform. The plan was to make money by playing advertisements to users and giving a portion of that revenue to music producers and artists. To get started, Daniel needed to upload songs to his app and visited various music production companies. Unfortunately that he needed to prove that his idea was a working business model before they would sign on.
Despite the setback, Daniel wasn't gave up. He continued to work tirelessly to bring their vision to life. They demonstrated their commitment to the music industry and their understanding of its needs. Over time they were able to negotiate partnerships with music labels and obtain the rights to the music in their library. Ultimately I'm happy to mention people accepted this product unbelievably, as it was well organized, has easy access to songs, good internet usage, and played music with one easy click. Spotify's business model, which combined a free ad-supported tier with a premium subscription service with no ads, proved to be a success.

3. Their customers were the key.

One of the biggest challenges the company faced was opposition from some artists who felt Spotify was devaluating the worth of music. This sentiment was echoed by Taylor Swift in 2014, who publicly criticized the platform for its royalty payment model. At that time she removed all her songs from the platform. Despite the criticism, Daniel had one great reason to be proud of his work - its his customers. Spotify had gained a massive following, with millions of users around the globe using it to access their favorite music.

4. Their competition to the giants.

As Spotify's popularity continued to grow, it faced increasing competition from other music streaming platforms, such as Apple Music, Google Play Music, and Yt Music. Despite this competition, Spotify used an amazing strategy to gain new customers to them. They continued their free, ad-supported version, which accounted for only like 10% of its overall revenue.
However, this free version was seen as a way to attract new customers to the platform, with the hope that they would eventually upgrade to its premium subscription. By providing the taste of the platform, once they experience the convenience and the accessibility of the platform, many were likely to upgrade to the premium version for a better experience.
And Spotify has recently made a strategic move into the podcasting world. The company has acquired popular podcast networks, shows and even they bought the world's best podcast-making app Anchor, along with partnering with DC Comics to create original content. This move is aimed at consolidating its position as the leading platforms for both music and podcasts.
Even Spotify has improved its algorithms to enhance the user experience. One-third of the songs we listen in this app are decided by their algorithms is an amazing factor.

In conclusion with thousands of challenges, Spotify has become the no. 1 music streaming platform in the globe,  from a music distribution app to a golden platform that artists use to reach their fans and community.
